Reuben was raised on a small horse farm in a rural farming community near Winchester, Ontario. He spent most of his time horseback and dreamed of being a gunfighter. At 13 years old, Reuben, realizing that being a gunfighter was maybe not a viable career option, got started in the sport of rodeo as a Jr. Steer rider. At 17 Reuben left home and traveled south in pursuit of his goal as a professional bull rider. Over the next ten years Reuben would encounter much success competing at some of the most prestigious rodeos, conquering some of the rankest bulls in the world. Reuben qualified for the PBR World Finals 3x, won the coveted Glen Keeley award, won a Canadian national bull riding title and was selected three times for the CPRA's All Star Pro Rodeo. Along the way Reuben made his way to Western Canada where he met his future bride Karina Tees. After retiring from bull riding his focus returned to working with horses and thoughts of ranching full time. Reuben is passionate about colt starting, horsemanship, ranching and raising quality grass fed beef. Reuben is working hard to build a sustainable ranching business and looks forward to being able to farm full time.
Karina grew up just outside of Tees, Alberta, a small ranching community started by her great grandfather, James Tees, in 1905. Karina grew up as the daughter of a grain farmer and had a passion for horses. Karina would often substitute her assigned homework and household responsibilities for hours horseback riding across the sprawling wheat fields of her prairie home.
As a young girl Karina was a member of the Tees 4-H Country Riders and eventually wound up competing at numerous
eventing shows as a member of Pony Club.
In 1995 Karina was crowned Calgary Stampede Princess and along with her fellow princess and Queen spent the year riding and traveling all across western Canada and the United States as a representative of the Calgary Stampede . In 1998 Karina was crowned Ponoka Stampede Queen and subsequently won the coveted Miss Rodeo Canada title in 1999. Karina met Reuben, at a rodeo of course, and shortly after Karina completed her
reign as MRC, they were married.
Karina and Reuben now have four precious children.
Karina co-manages Flying G Ranch with Reuben and still enjoys riding.
